Summary of Tape No 583X1 4 June 1994 Taos 1st 1994 2-day Summer Workshop - Tape 1 of 6 |
In this Taos Workshop, Bartholomew emphasized the concept of self-awareness, tackling the notion that there is no true obstacle to understanding one's identity, and the fallacy of chasing a "perfect self."
The dialogue centered around overcoming procrastination and recognizing that one’s true self is not some idealized future version but is here and now. Participants were encouraged to confront their fears, desires, and the barriers created by societal and personal expectations to experience ever-present awareness. The discussion highlighted that enlightenment, often misconceived as the absence of life's issues, actually involves understanding and embracing all aspects of life and self, including the challenging parts. This workshop aimed to motivate individuals to realize that the opportunity for awakening is immediate, urging them to live authentically in the present rather than endlessly seeking fulfillment in external achievements or future aspirations. |
